A committee for the establishment of a state-owned university in Okunland, which is located in the Western Senatorial district of the state, has been inaugurated by Kogi Gov. Yahaya Bello.

In his comments subsequent to introducing the advisory group on Wednesday at the public authority house Lokoja, the Lead representative encouraged the board of trustees to present its starter report in six weeks or less.

Bello claims that members of the committee have been given clear guidelines that include deciding whether the university is specialized or conventional and suggesting an appropriate name for the establishment.

“In addition, it is their responsibility to prepare the required academic brief, university law, and university master plan for submission to the National Universities Commission (NUC) for approval.

In order to guarantee that academic activities can begin immediately, the committee will also choose a suitable site and the ideal location. The committee will investigate realistic and long-lasting funding options for sustainability.

“Furthermore, some other exercises expected for the college’s brief foundation fall inside the council’s domain,” the Lead representative said.

Bello focused on the significance of including people who could contribute worth to the board of trustees’ work and exercises.

He mentioned that the committee would be able to recruit non-Kogi individuals and Kogi residents to contribute their expertise to the university’s establishment.

The Governor stated that several important government officials were also on the committee to ensure a comprehensive and coordinated approach.

Prof. Olu Obafemi Nnom, Chairman of the Committee, said in his remarks that the committee is committed to working hard to realize the Governor’s and Okunland’s goals.

He praised Bello for his commitment to inclusive governance, fairness, and equality, and he emphasized the Okun people’s decades-long desire for a university.

The Don emphasized that Bello’s administration’s decision to establish the university in Okunland was a significant and lasting act that would be remembered by the populace for many years to come.

Prof. Hadiza Aguye serves as the Committee’s Secretary, and the committee consists of 17 distinguished professors.

Kogi already had two universities owned by the state; Sovereign Abubakar Audu College in Anyigba, Kogi East, and Conjunction College of Science and Innovation (CUSTECH) in Kogi Focal.

A major accomplishment for Bello’s administration is the establishment of a state-owned university in Kogi West.

It brought to light the Governor’s commitment to expanding educational opportunities and providing Kogians with high-quality higher education.
