The Excellent Finale of the current year’s NFF-Tingo League Cup Rivalry will happen at the Stephen Keshi Arena, Asaba on Thursday, fifteenth June 2023.
The day will begin with the women’s final, scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. and featuring Cup holders Bayelsa Queens and Rivers Angels, who have won multiple titles. Rangers International of Enugu and Benin’s 1978 champions Bendel Insurance will face off in the men’s final at 5 p.m.
The fact that Rivers Angels and Bayelsa Queens are the two teams that have represented Nigeria in the nascent CAF Women’s Champions League competitions demonstrates their strength on the home front. As a result, football administrators, promoters, stakeholders, and fans are already looking forward to one of the best finals in both men’s and women’s formats.
The competition’s defending champions, Bayelsa Queens, defeated FC Robo Queens of Lagos in the 2021 final at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City.
With Bendel Insurance and Enugu Rangers having competed in two of the most memorable finals in the history of the men’s competition, the conditions are set for a fierce competition in the men’s final.
“Benin Arsenal” defeated the feared Enugu Rangers 3-0 in the 1978 final at the National Stadium in Surulere, Lagos, in what was a stunning performance that year that left bookmakers short. The fervent supporters of the “Flying Antelopes” were silenced when Peter Egharevba scored the first goal with a free kick from long range.
Three years later, Rangers exacted their vengeance. On a sunny afternoon, the all-white Coal City boys defeated Rangers 2-0, with goals from Okwuchukwu Obiora and Ifeanyi Onyedika. The legendary “Chairman,” Christian Chukwu, led the orchestra from the back.
Bendel Insurance has been on a tear this season, going unbeaten in the condensed Nigeria Premier Football League and putting on respectable performances everywhere. Officers Global were on the backfoot for the bigger piece of the main portion of the time yet got in the subsequent refrain, and make certain to do their absolute best in the last of a rivalry in which they love to take off.
