Babura/Mai Gatari Council defend 2024 Budget before Jigawa Assembly

The Babura/Mai Gatari Council has appeared before the Jigawa State House of Assembly to defend its 2024 budget.

The council proposed to spend the sum of N4.48 billion for the year 2024 budget on various projects which include payment of salary, allowances and meaningful projects that has direct impact on human development

The Chairman of the council, Alhaji Yusif Nadabo Maigatari made this known shortly after defending his proposed budget at the house of assembly in Dutse .

The Chairman said N1.5 billion naira has been proposed by the council to be spent on personnel cost and N 88.8 million was proposed for over-head cost.

“For the capital expenditures the council proposed to spend N465.5 million and N2 million was proposed for contingency for the year 2024,” he said.

He explained further that the council will increase its focu on health ,education having budgeted a large share of the council’s expenditure in 2024 for it.

Yusif further that more schools will be renovated and health facilities will be equipped with working materials and supply of drugs

“In the area of agriculture, arrangements have been made to assist farmers with all necessary farming inputs and supply of fertilised within the needed period.”

The Chairman also disclosed that the council had established a revenue committee in the local government with a view to improve the revenue generation in the area.

He explained that the council is targeting N41.640 million as revenue from markets.

Similarly, the council Chairman of Babura local government area, Alhaji Lawan Ismaila kanya said his council has proposed to spend N4.435 billion for the whole year.

He assured that his council will also work to improve human development which is very significant in the society.

Lawan noted that improving water supply formed a priority of the council’s budget

He assured that more teachers in both primary schools and junior secondary schools will be trained so as to get the desired objective for the teaching and learning in the area.
