Children of late Susan Idowu have donated two motorized boreholes water facilities to Ikire community, headquarters of Irewole Local Government Area of Osun State.
The children also distributed food palliative to over 300 residents of the community to cushion the effect of the fuel subsidy removal.
The donors while commissioning the projects disclosed that they used the water projects to immortalize their mother, Susan Idowu who died 50 years ago, noting that water is one natural resource from God to men.
Describing their late mother as a philadelphist per excellence, the children said they emulate their late mom spirit of giving to the needy.
A Nigerian-America-based gospel singer, John Kola-Idowu, who spoke on behalf of Mr Dare Idowu, Pastor Mrs Tutu Morolari, Residence Pastor of Holy Ghost Parish in Rhode Island USA, Deaconess Bolaji’ Lola Adebiyi an Author of the Book– Rescue from The Jaw of Death, Republic of Ireland, said they executed the project to demonstrate the philanthropic gesture of their mother possessed while she was alive and she taught them.
He said: “We’re given back to the community where we all grew up. We are executing this project to demonstrate the philanthropic gesture our mother possessed while she was alive and what she taught us.”
“The motive behind our gesture was to help the needy in our domain. This is what our mother, Susan Silifa Idowu nee Kujore, was known for. She was a philanthropist, a destiny helper who was known for helping the people around her.
“Looking back to how my siblings and I grew up been a 6 years old boy and my younger sister who happened to be the last born was just 2 years old. So it is with the glory of God that put us where we are today.”
“My siblings and I were at the tender age when we lost our mother and you can imagine the survival of motherless children in a polygamous family, but we thank God that the family were blessed with generosity.
“The 2 years old baby then is now 52 years living in Republic of Ireland . I thank God for our lives, there were numerous challenges but we scape through with His grace,” he added.
“Mama was a philanthropist who impacted many lives before her demise. Mama Susan Idowu was a Midwifery in Ijebu Igbo before she got married to Chief G A Idowu, a medical practitioner in Ikire.
The children therefore urged the residents of the town to make good use of the water projects located in the Sango area of Ikire, reiterating their commitment and dedication to the welfare of the people of Ikire, this they said, is part of their own contributions to the development of their home town.
