Malam Suleiman Ibrahim, the Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Kano State, gave serving corps members the task of embracing Skills Acquisition Training during and after their service year in order to become self-reliant. The exhibition of treasures produced by serving corps members under the skills acquisition training program took place on Wednesday at the NYSC Secretariat along Gwarzo Road, Kano. Ibrahim gave the task at that time.
He said abilities obtaining preparing is an element of the public youth administration conspire.
The Coordinator said that over 20,000 youth corps members were being mobilized annually, but that there aren’t enough job opportunities to accommodate all of them, so skills acquisition training is necessary.
โThe NYSC scheme began in 1974 with 11,000 young people, but today there are between 20,000 and 50,000 young people every year, and there are no jobs for them.
“Thus, we are attempting to guarantee that youngsters make the most of this open door and become independently employed,” he said.
Mr. Waziri Jinkai, the Assistant Director in Charge of Skills Acquisition, stated that the program has been extremely successful over the past fifty years.
He mentioned that the NYSC program included training in skills acquisition to help people become self-reliant in light of the lack of white-collar jobs.
The members of the serving corps were encouraged by Jinkai to make the most of the opportunity to accomplish the goals that had been established.
During the event, the treasures produced by the corps members were displayed for visitors to examine.
