Nigerian multinational singing sensation has made a record as one of the few female artist from the Nigerian music industry to win a Grammy award.
Her part in Future’s ‘Wait For U’ took home the award for Best Melodic Rap performance on Sunday, 5th February 2023 at the 65th Grammy awards which took place in Los Angeles.
Tem’s colleagues have continued sending her congratulatory messages in celebration of her historic win. Tiwa Savage, Omawumi, and Waje, who are Afrobeats female stars have taken to their Instagram page to congratulate her.
Tems got nominated for three awards at the 2023 Grammys earning; As a featured artist on Beyonce’s Album of the year nominated ‘Renaissance’ and two for Best rap song and Best melodic rap performance for Future’s ‘Wait For U’
Following her win with ‘wait for U’, Tems has become one of the few female artists from the Nigerian music industry to win a Grammy award, after Sade Adu who won an award for Best Artist in 1,986, and Cynthia Erivo who won in 2017 for Best Theatre Album.
